My Photography

Photographs are a memory of time, in a moment of alignment, a touch of the perfect or a splat of the imperfect.  A legend, a light, a finding, a loss, a bending, a shift, a definition of space and time held frozen within borders of a frame.   Each moment recorded defines itself, where time is spent, where noticing and recording are dictated by the subjects.  To be viewed, mused or instantly discarded.

This is a study of themes.  A record of the time, time spent, value caught.

The Balcony Shots

Buildings, the gray trees, are fixed and take on their own personality.  And like trees, time, season, weather and light create an influence of color and tension over the fixed buildings, giving them mystery, humor, harmony, being helpless or welcoming of the constant changes.  They exist together, a harmony is brought about by outside forces which, together they experience and endure.

Fast Water

Most were shot in Dupont Forest, North Carolina over several visits. This water has the  luxury of controlled abundance.  The players in the natural world are characters who together, though their positions can be moved, worn or influenced by water, wind and time. They dance, play and react to the natural forces, creating a display that feeds the eye, mind and heart.

Other groups of photos are pulled from moving around cities, beaches and National Parks both here and in Europe.  Highlights of experiences offer a variety of life seen. The roaring fast water surging, or a raven’s glistening body, unafraid and curious or a  scene of contemplation .

Almost all the  occasional adjustments I’ve made in the photos, are cropping and balancing.  No color changes were made, none.  

I take time to look around, to appreciate what’s already there and present in my present. A record, not a reshaping.  What is seen, is the height of inner beauty.
